Design Forecast Live: Why is Climate Action still negotiable? ... and why it shouldn't be.

Following the publication of Design Forecast 2024 — our annual report exploring the trends shaping business and design — Gensler Portland is gathering to ask the question...

Why is Climate Action still negotiable? ...and why it shouldn't be.

Are we truly as sustainable as we think we are? In Portland, sustainability is often celebrated, but do we truly live up to the hype? Despite Portland's celebrated environmental consciousness, our buildings and design practices frequently miss the mark in meaningful climate action. While sustainable legislations exist nationwide, Portland is only just delving into what that means for us. This ambiguity allows for both innovation and complacency, highlighting the necessity for stronger regulations. As a result, it begs the question: Why is Climate Action still negotiable?

Join us for an honest and diverse panel discussion featuring local economy representatives as we uncover the realities behind Portland's sustainable image. We'll tackle pressing questions like:

  1. What motivates you to adopt sustainable practices?
  2. What responsibilities do industry leaders have in local progress?
  3. How do you envision the city's future?
  4. What's still negotiable, and what isn't?

We are excited to be hosting this event and hope you are able to join.
